Industrial Development in Greater Edmonton

A snapshot of which markets are seeing the most development activity.

With a number of roadblocks hindering Alberta’s economic growth, namely the halting of the Trans Mountain Pipeline expansion late August 2018 and the upcoming 2019 federal and provincial elections, there has been a slowdown in the number of new building projects as developers wait for the industrial market to stabilize before breaking ground.

Despite the turbulent economy however, there are several sizable projects currently under construction and 2018 saw 2.2 million square feet of new supply.

To better understand the current and future development pipelines, this Spark report outlines where the major development projects are located in order for developers and tenants to both gain a better understanding of where new growth is likely to occur as well as when and where this might happen.
