With uncertainty continuing to surround the Trans Mountain pipeline approval, coupled with both provincial and federal elections taking place this year, the Edmonton industrial market has remained relatively flat this quarter as industrial companies wait for a clearer picture before making decisions.

  • The Western Canada Select (WCS) has recovered and stabilized since December sitting at $US 54.21 as of March 2019
  • Overall vacancy rose slightly to 6.9%, up 0.3% since Q4 2018
  • Typical speculative development has returned in a cautious manner with activity from Sunlife and Remington leading the charge

In 2003, Matthew acquired both his residential and commercial real estate licenses and joined the industrial team at Torode Realty (Edmonton) Ltd. as a commercial real estate Associate. He achieved substantial success early in his real estate career, concluding significant leasing and sales transactions of industrial properties and land. In 2007, Colliers International expanded their industrial division with the acquisition of Torode Realty (Edmonton) Ltd.

Matthew brings to Colliers International, seven years of commercial banking experience with TD Canada Trust while he lived in Toronto, Ontario, managing corporate accounts, foreign exchange, mortgages and mutual fund investments. In addition, Matthew possesses an extensive investigative background as a former investigator with the RCMP. His broad-based investigative experiences covered homicides, proceeds of crime, the illicit drug trade, money laundering, mortgage fraud and VIP Protective Services for dignitaries such as; the Prime Minister of Canada, Governor General of Canada, and Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
