Attractive Short-Term Deal for University of Calgary

In 1966, University of Calgary became its own entity and grew very quickly as educators from around the world united there to carve out its future. In spring 2017, the university received funding from the Alberta government to renovate and redevelop one of its main administration buildings. As a result, University of Calgary sought a temporary relocation for about 600 employees over a period of five years.  

Maximizing Opportunities for Canadian Education Leader

Vice president, facilities, and the director, real estate, leasing and land holdings, engaged Colliers International to source viable housing options for the university in the short term. Led by Justin Mayerchak and Peter Mayerchak, the real estate team helped University of Calgary attain its preferred relocation within University Research Park.  


Building Relationships from the Ground Up

Colliers achieved a deal with the sublandlord that was in its client’s best interests and that pleased the university’s executive leadership team and Board of Governors. With Colliers’ sound guidance and strategic support, its client successfully leased 95,000 square feet in the SMART technologies building, a building that included a range of features such as vehicle and bicycle parking, a central cafeteria and fitness centre.
