Greater Vancouver Board of Trade (GVBOT) announced the Advisory
Committee of the Diversity and Inclusion Leadership Council (DLC) which is an evolution of the Women’s Leadership Council (WLC). The DLC will focus on addressing issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion to encourage allyship and enhance business innovation while continuing its efforts in supporting the advancement of women in business.
We are thrilled to announce the appointment of Synthia Kloot, Senior Vice President, Operations as an Advisory Committee Member.
Synthia shares, “Simple conversations can have huge impacts when we listen empathetically, act as an ally and ask how best to support others to find their voice or seat at the table. Being a member of Greater Vancouver Board of Trade’s Diversity and Inclusion Leadership Council provides me the opportunity to collaborate with a truly diverse board and learn from fellow members as we work toward a common goal. Leveraging the work we’ve done and are doing individually, in our organizations, the business community and our communities, will help businesses further advance Diversity and Inclusion and ultimately make a positive, lasting impact on the Vancouver region.”
As part of its initial priorities, the council will hold programs and workshops that help to educate GVBOT members on these issues. It will also offer resources to help businesses improve diversity and inclusion in the workplace, as well as actively championing BIPOC representation on panels at Board events.
