Places of Worship Practice
Over the past 16+ years Colliers Not-for-Profit Advisory Group has been actively assisting various charities
and non-profit organizations as their advocate on a variety of real estate matters. Our diverse clientele
includes well over 100 small and large non-profit organizations in a variety of sectors including Affordable
Housing, Local and National Health, Education, Associations, Foundations, Seniors Housing and a notable
increase in various Religious Organizations in recent years.
We are proud to announce our team is expanding with new team members and a dedicated focus on
helping Places of Worship and Religious Organizations fulfill their mission through strategic and
comprehensive real estate planning. We employee a people first approach: our focus is listening to the
underlying needs and wishes of congregations and helping them transform that vital information into a
strategic property vision to create long-term sustainability.
Our team is committed to developing real estate solutions that address the needs of the community and
achieve a better future for our clients.
We are fortunate to be aligned with and supported by like-minded professionals who deliver specialized
high quality and transparent services to religious organizations in a variety of fields including zoning /
planning, heritage, banking, legal, accounting, insurance, design, construction, architecture, and housing
partnership developers.
In February of 2018, our team co-hosted a Place of Worship morning seminar with RBC’s Non-Profit
team where, along with other specialists, we discussed recent trends, zoning concerns, financing
challenges, and the GTA’s real estate market in the context of church transactions and redevelopment
opportunities.
In November of 2018, our team sponsored Carters 25th Annual Church & Charity Law Seminar which
was attended by over 500 religious leaders. Looking forward to 2019, on February 6th we will be presenters
at the Chartered Professional Accountants Not-for-Profit Forum in Toronto.
We routinely attend and present strategy, process, market intelligence and recommendations to various
church committees, Board of Directors, and congregations. We also regularly attend, sponsor and speak at
Place of Worship conferences and seminars.
Future newsletters will share informative relevant trends in addition to interviews with a diverse group of
leaders and specialists from a variety of professional fields. We plan to share congregation success stories
as well as information and best practices that can help your organization to better fulfil your mission
by planning for both short-term and long-term considerations.
