Growing a vibrant centre
The Mississauga Executive Centre (MEC) is an imposing 1.1 million-square-foot office complex made up of four properties located at 1, 2, 3 and 4 Robert Speck Parkway, in Mississauga, Ontario. As an older suburban centre, it attracted tenants looking for discounted lease rates, and was facing increasing competition from other large complexes.
The client selected Colliers Asset Advisory Services to develop a strategic plan for meeting these market challenges. Working alongside the City of Mississauga, Colliers managed to reposition MEC and the downtown as a vibrant and rapidly growing urban marketplace.
Key player in exciting evolution of downtown
As a result of Colliers’ sound management and tactical direction, the Mississauga Executive Centre has become a key player in an exciting evolution of downtown Mississauga. Additionally, Colliers saved the client $700,000 in operating costs the first year, while the first 18 months saw an increase in occupancy from 82 percent to 95 percent.
Creating sustained successes
Since that time, the Mississauga Executive Centre has won the BOMA Canada TOBY Award in 2015 and 2017 for building of the year, achieved BOMA 360 designation and is LEED-EB certified. As the City of Mississauga continues to grow and strengthen its vibrancy, the Mississauga Executive Centre remains the top choice for tenants in the downtown.
