Founded over 60 years ago, the Fair Haven Homes Society provides residential care and affordable housing to more than 400 seniors in Greater Vancouver. When Fair Haven sought to improve its Burnaby and Vancouver locations, it engaged Colliers Consulting as Development Manager on the redevelopment of two sites to better serve residents.
After successfully completing a feasibility study on both sites, analyzing and determining the optimal development scenario, Colliers Consulting presented recommendations to the Society. Once approved, we managed the pre-application development planning process by establishing design specifications, coordinating sub-consultant applications, securing financing from BC Housing, conducting public consultation, securing rezoning, managing stakeholder relations, and securing development and building permits in both municipalities.
Colliers Consulting oversaw construction of the new buildings in Burnaby and Vancouver. The McKay Apartments recently opened in Burnaby, replacing nine aging duplex cottages with 145 comfortable and modern apartments. The Vivian Apartments in Vancouver is targeted for completion in Fall 2019. We successfully de-risked the Burnaby site to provide 100% of the units at below market rental rates prior to the completion of the building and is in the process of achieving the same level of affordability with the Vancouver site.
