Proptech (the intersection of real estate and tech) – a term that didn’t exist just a few years ago – is now disrupting every facet of the real estate industry. Recognizing that they’ve historically been slow to adopt technology, major players need to innovate now to stay ahead of the curve. At Colliers, we want to lead our industry into the future. In 2018, we launched The Colliers Proptech Accelerator Powered by Techstars an industry-first global program in real estate, combining Techstars’ expertise in tech innovation and building accelerators with Colliers’ enterprising culture, real estate expertise and global network.
This year, we received hundreds of applications from an unprecedented 50+ countries. Our 2019 class of 10 early-stage proptech companies, representing six countries, are tackling a wide range of solutions, including quant valuation and investing, crowdfunding, asset fractionalization, machine learning, artificial intelligence, blockchain, as well as augmented and virtual reality. They spent the past three months in Toronto working with 120+ mentors to explore pilots and partnerships, refine their business plans, and gain traction in the market. The program culminated in Demo Day at the Real Estate Forum in Toronto on Wednesday, December 4th, where the Class of 2019 took to the stage to pitch clients, real estate industry leaders and technology investors. Congratulations, Class of 2019!
