Looking to Provide Affordable Housing Choices in an Increasingly Unaffordable Housing Market

OUR ROLE

With the subject site in a community anchored by the region’s most significant rapid transit interchange, Brightside Community Homes Foundation is looking to provide a mix of community oriented affordable housing choices in an increasingly unaffordable housing market. As a result, Brightside engaged Colliers International Consulting (CIC) to provide development management services and act as Owner’s Representative in the execution of this redevelopment project. To date, CIC has conducted a development feasibility on the site to ensure the development’s alignment with current and potential zoning as well as market considerations. Additionally, CIC has assembled a team of design consultants and as a team, have submitted a Letter of Enquiry with the City of Vancouver for the redevelopment. CIC will continue to work towards the final design of the project and the pre-development funding application process.   

SERVICES

To date, Colliers has provided / will provide the following services:

  • Conducted a development feasibility to identify plausible development scenarios for the subject sites
  • Manage the pre-application development planning process
  • Seek additional sources of equity and grants from other investment partners or agencies in order to improve affordability of the project
  • Assemble and manage a team of subconsultants
  • Coordinate technical reports and permitting to obtain planning approvals
  • Coordinate community engagement and tenant relocation
  • Oversee all construction-related activities to project completion
  • Monitor the project budget and timeline to ensure project is on track
