Colliers wins 2021 NAIOP Calgary REX Office Lease of the Year and Industrial Development of the Year Awards

Alberta Central & Celero at The District at Beltline

Congratulations to Colliers’ Justin Mayerchak, Peter Mayerchak and Jash Sandhu on winning Office Lease of the Year for a 51,033-square-foot 10-year term transaction with Alberta Central & Celero at The District at Beltline.

The District is a true success story in an otherwise challenging office market. The developer has created an environment in keeping with the innovation ecosystem locally and this transaction legitimized the project, which is now over 85% leased. The District will be a central landmark for the beltline: a home to great, local retail offerings and office tenants that functions from sun up to well beyond sun down. 

Alberta Central & Celero’s move into over 50,000 square feet at The District at Beltline exemplifies how technology and corporate culture shifts are changing our economy and subsequently, the city. The transaction was a catalyst for considerably more leasing in Calgary’s most prominent tech-forward development, with a positive effect on how companies are responding to the desires of a modern workforce.

The Colliers Industrial team followed suit with Neil Ferris and his team winning the Industrial Development Award on the sale of 14 acres at 8825 Shepard Rd SE.

The site, which is now the ROSEN Canada Head Office, went from sale to redevelopment, thanks to Colliers connecting the client with key vendors to help create a state-of-the-art, four storey, 180,000-square-foot facility. The impact of the redevelopment led to employment for thousands of local tradespeople, while the head office itself is now home to diverse roles, from shop and field technicians to engineers and data analysts.

Neil joined the Colliers Calgary Industrial Services Team in 2013 after spending 15 years as an asset manager and developer. This experience has provided Neil with a vast knowledge in the developing, investing and asset managing of industrial real estate and a thorough understanding of real estate pro formas. In his short time at Colliers thus far, he has already expanded his reputation in the marketplace and continues to strengthen his rapport with the development and investment community.

Neil's primary focus is to proactively help his clients achieve their business goals. Neil is an expert primarily in acquisition and disposition of investment product and has a strong knowledge in listing industrial real estate.
