Winnipeg saw an active retail sector during the summer and fall of 2022. Limited new construction and strong demand continue to constrict vacancy to record lows.

  • Sales activity and in-person shopping rebounded to more normalized levels since local restrictions lifted in the spring. 
  • Following country-wide trends, the Winnipeg market continues to grow in many retail categories, including professional services (medical, dental, veterinary and others), grocery, the pet industry, dollar stores, and other discount retailers. 
  • So far in 2022, the Winnipeg quick service restaurant category (QSR) has not skipped a beat.  Winnipeg is seeing encouraging growth by many QSR brands.
