Pursuing Her Passions and Championing Others’ Success Make Nicole MacDonald “A True DE&I Champion”

Spirit of Colliers Awards Nicole MacDonald Hero

We’re nearing the end of our Spirit of Colliers Awards series, with one category remaining. Today, we are proud to feature Nicole MacDonald, the recipient of the 2022 DE&I award. The DE&I Award is presented to one individual who empowers our people to think differently and embrace an inclusive culture to create better solutions.

Spirit of Colliers Nicole MacDonald

Nicole is a Senior Project Manager and Team Lead within Colliers Project Leaders. From taking an active role in the Colliers Project Leaders Indigenous Working Group to holding a position as Chair of Engineers Canada’s Indigenous Advisory Committee and supporting and mentoring others including women, youth, and Indigenous people to pursue careers in STEM, “Nicole epitomizes a true DE&I champion,” says Michael Paul, Vice President, Eastern Ontario and Northern Canada, Colliers Project Leaders. “Among many other internal and external initiatives, Nicole is the co-creator of an internal Employee Resource Group (ERG) at Colliers Project Leaders, which aims to increase accessibility and provide support for Indigenous team members. Nicole’s drive and passion to move the DE&I needle forward translates into her leadership skills; she is an inspirational, and humble, role model who is contributing to building the future generation of Project Leaders!”

We asked Nicole what she loves about working at Colliers, and she told us, “The opportunity to explore and pursue your interests and passions – whether that is external work with clients or internal projects in the company. I also love that I learn something new from every opportunity!” We also asked how her team positioned and supported her to win this award, and she replied, “This award is really for the entire team of Indigenous employees within Colliers Project Leaders. We’ve formed a strong group that connects regularly to discuss professional and personal items, offer support and guidance, generate, and advance our ideas, and more. We’ve started to make big strides within the company, while collaborating with other leaders and allies in the Indigenous space and have built great friendships along the way.”

At Colliers, it is our culture that differentiates us. A culture built by people and teams who go above and beyond every day. Launched in 2021, the Spirit of Colliers Awards recognizes the outstanding efforts and achievements of Colliers teams and professionals who demonstrate our values and bring our culture to life. Our professionals are encouraged to nominate teams or individuals who demonstrate one or more of Colliers' values in action to accelerate the success of our clients, colleagues, and communities.
