Brian Rosen and Robert Frost discuss their career journey in CRE
Colliers served as Title Sponsor for 2022 Real Estate Ryerson Week
In March, Colliers was pleased to support and participate in Real Estate Ryerson’s 2022 Real Estate Week.
Brian Rosen, President & CEO, Canada opened the CREW-Toronto (Commercial Real Estate Women’s Network) Panel Discussion event as a keynote speaker, advocating that more must be done to diversify the industry, particularly when it comes to women in commercial real estate. He shared that companies and their leaders need to be intentional in their approach to changing the industry status quo.
The following day, Brian, along with Robert Frost, Senior Managing Director, Investment Practice Group, GTA (Greater Toronto Area) hosted a group of Ryerson University students at the downtown Toronto office for a tour and open-panel discussion on careers in commercial real estate (CRE).
Robert shared his career journey as he challenged himself to new opportunities and risks without fear, even if it varied from his past experience. His story underscored the importance of networking, keeping a positive attitude, and nurturing a desire to learn and grow.
Both Brian and Robert emphasized that a career in CRE requires passion and dedication, but having support systems or outlets, such as family, pets or hobbies, are critical to appreciating the journey and valuing that success.
Participation and energy were high as the discussion transitioned to an open conversation with Talent Acquisition members, including Christian Odorizzi, Pat Robinson, and Lauren Hearon, who highlighted the company’s diversity & inclusion initiatives and employee resource groups.
“We are excited to accelerate our internship program in 2022. We are anticipating over 50 interns this summer across North America in 15 different business lines with a focus on Brokerage and IT,” said Lauren Hearon, Manager, Campus Recruiting | North America.
About Ryerson University’s Annual Real Estate Week
Real Estate Ryerson (RER) is the official student union for the Real Estate Management program offered at the Ted Rogers School of Management. RER acts as a liaison between students and industry professionals, hosting events for these groups to meet and advance their network. This program has quickly become Colliers’ number one alumni source for recent graduate talent in Toronto.
Throughout the course of the school year, RER hosts various events that employers can sponsor and support to make connections with students. Real Estate Week provides students the opportunity to acquire knowledge and develop their skills from industry professionals and experience commercial real estate through workshops, seminars, presentations, panels, socials, and office tours.
