Colliers Real Estate Management Services (REMS) is thrilled to announce the launch of our sustainability program GreenSpace.
With buildings contributing up to 35% of Canada’s carbon emissions, GreenSpace affirms our commitment to helping our clients, occupants and staff reduce their carbon, waste, and water footprints.
Developed by the REMS sustainability team, the program offers clients and occupants a holistic solution to all their sustainability needs.
GreenSpace “We could not be happier with the launch of GreenSpace. This new program is a testament to Colliers’ commitment to sustainability and focuses on improvements and awareness for our staff, occupants and clients. We are very excited to grow the GreenSpace brand within the commercial real estate community and continue positioning ourselves as leaders in the industry,” says Phillip Raffi, National Energy & Sustainability Manager, Real Estate Management Services.
Sustainability isn’t just about reducing our impact on the planet. It also translates into significant cost savings. While pursuing LEED certification, Upper Harbor Place I and II in Victoria, BC implemented lighting upgrades and HVAC optimization that cut operating costs by $65,000 per year.
“In order to achieve our sustainability goals, we push for continuous improvement within our managed buildings. Our new GreenSpace program will enable Colliers to realize this improvement across our core pillars of sustainability, from waste and energy management to tenant wellness and engagement,” shares Nicky Arthur, Sustainability Manager, Western Canada, Real Estate Management Services.
The sustainability team plans on launching an internal change management platform, along with a monthly corporate health and wellness newsletter, as part of the GreenSpace program. These initiatives serve to promote healthy lifestyles and nurture an enhanced quality of life for Colliers’ staff. Raffi confirms this emerging priority: “Over the last few years there has been a change in mindset, and rightfully so. We used to primarily focus on operational efficiency; the industry has now shifted to a focus on wellbeing and quality of life.”
