Real Estate Management Services supports certification for 13 properties across southern Ontario

It might have been easy to push it down the to-do list.

When Colliers Real Estate Management Services and Manulife Investment Management set a goal to obtain BOMA BEST certifications for 13 properties, property managers were grappling with the second wave of the pandemic, staring ahead at a long and uncertain winter.

In the end, the entire team rose to the challenge and demonstrated their collective commitment to environmental sustainability.

Across southern Ontario – from Windsor to Welland – these 13 properties, a mix of open-air retail and light industrial spaces, are now BOMA BEST certified.

1. 1760 Huron Church, Windsor
2. Town Centre, Lasalle
3. 1330 Exmouth St., Sarnia
4. 1051 Wellington Rd., London
5. 15745 Robin’s Hill Rd, London
6. 511 Huron St., Stratford
7. 333 Dundas St., Woodstock
8. Rymal Road Plaza, Hamilton
9. 318 Ontario St., St. Catharines
10. Port Colborne Mall, Port Colborne
11. Rose City Plaza, Welland
12. South Pelham Market, Welland
13. International Gateway, Fort Erie

BOMA BEST is Canada’s largest environmental assessment and certification program for existing buildings and there are 16 best practices that must be attained to receive the distinction. Across Manulife Investment Management’s properties, the team of property managers and tenants worked collaboratively to set bold energy, water, and waste reduction targets, showing how their indoor air quality guidelines and green cleaning policies will help reduce exposure to airborne pollutants. They also developed a preventive maintenance log that contributes to meeting and exceeding industry standards over a five-year management cycle.

“This is a very diverse portfolio,” explains Lisa Stys, Senior Property Manager, “yet everyone knew the potential of BOMA BEST to reaffirm our environmental leadership and bring value in the long term. I’m proud of what we were able to accomplish together.”

Colliers Real Estate Management Services and Manulife Investment Management look forward to seeing how the outcomes of this certification drive further progress in the years ahead.
