Professional Summary
Chris Kuno joined Colliers as an urban planning consultant following a career in professional baseball and has served as a project manager and analyst on a range of projects related to the reimagining of existing real estate assets into financially sustainable places with unique character and identity. He holds a Master of Urban Planning degree with a specialization in Real Estate and Development from McGill University.
Chris provides expertise in policy creation, destination creation, special district planning, planning approvals, development feasibility, and strategic portfolio planning for private and public sector clients.
A registered planner with the Canadian Institute of Planners, a committee member of the Urban Land Institute, and a member of the International Council of Shopping Centres, and NAIOP Real Estate Development Association, Chris is an active member in the planning community.

James Smerdon is a retail consultant and strategic planner with Colliers Consulting in Vancouver. James joined Colliers in 2007 and has been a consultant since 1997. James has worked on projects throughout North America, for a wide variety of public and private sector clients.
Russell leads the Colliers Planning and Placemaking team based out of Vancouver. Over the years, he has managed development and planning advisory assignments locally, as well as throughout North America, China, and the Middle East. He provides expertise in strategic planning, land capacity analyses, demand modelling, demographic forecasting, and economic placemaking, ultimately with the goal of creating unique and successful destinations within existing urban fabrics.
Erin brings to Colliers her experience conducting real estate market analysis, urban planning policy development, and public engagement facilitation. Her strong design, analytical and mapping skills contribute to planning and development project success. Erin's engagement facilitation experience includes innovative approaches that effectively gain key insight from community members and stakeholders. She is experienced in demographic and socioeconomic analysis, conducting residential, retail, office, and industrial market studies, as well as land use and policy research.
Prior to joining Colliers, Erin worked in the Calgary real estate and rental market doing communications work and conducting market analysis. She also contributed to the growth of the Beltline Neighborhoods Association and its affiliated mural art festival as their Community Engagement Coordinator where she facilitated public art projects and related events.
My career has focused on Urban Planning and development of a wide range of property types. Work has included feasibility studies, consultant selection and coordination, managing the civic approval process and implementation of construction projects. Working for a variety of client types, my focus is on assiting clients achieve their real estate goals while finding a balance between communiity and private goals. I am a creative problem solver and approach real estate challanges in different ways.
With more than 40 years of experience in the commercial real estate industry, including serving as CEO I Canada at Colliers International for 14 years, David assumed the role of Vice Chairman and Head of Strategy and Consulting I Canada on March 31, 2020. In this role, David integrates Colliers’ existing consulting practices into a national Real Estate Strategy & Consulting entity, building on operations to deliver the best real estate solutions for investors, institutions and corporate clients with significant real estate assets and portfolios.
David is highly regarded for his deep connections and innovative business perspective, providing strategy and guidance on best practices in corporate leadership, change management and innovation.
David holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Urban Land Economics from the University of British Columbia and is a member of REALPAC. Consisting of fewer than 100 members, REALPAC is the national industry association dedicated to advancing the vitality of Canada’s real estate sector.
