His exposure to the industry begun at an early age, learning from his father Gord Cook and involving himself in numerous summer internships at Colliers before joining the team in 2019. Austin majored in Globalization Studies at Western University, a program that complimented his unabating curiosities about people, business and life. The program provides students with the opportunity to explore the incredibly complex idea of globalization from a multi-disciplinary perspective. Core courses from the Social Sciences, Humanities, Health Sciences and Science faculties allowing him to study and practice a wide-variety of topics and skills. Austin particularly enjoyed courses in marketing, urban development, economics and personal finance; Many of his educational endeavors emphasized his interest in real estate.
Austin continues to work towards earning the prestigous Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) designation, with its members being recognized as being the leading experts in commercial investment real estate and negotiation across North America. CCIM also provides the opportunity for regular engagement and course-work, having already completed numerous specialized courses in financial underwriting, and harnessing GIS systems for analysis.
