Continuing to bolster Colliers’ position as a leader in the sustainability and wellness space, Mississauga Executive Centre (MEC) 2 has been awarded a Fitwel Certification, rounding out the complex’s numerous accolades for excellence that include a BOMA Canada TOBY Award, Energy Star Building Certification, and LEED Gold Certification. Notably, MEC 2 is the first Colliers Real Estate Management Services-managed property to receive the leading Fitwel Certification and the first in Mississauga, Ontario to boast a 2-star level.

“Fitwel recognizes a vision for a healthier future where all buildings and communities are enhanced to strengthen health and wellbeing. We are very proud to be acknowledged for our efforts in promoting strategies that support the physical, mental, and social health of our occupants at MEC,” shares Angie Ieraci, General Manager, Mississauga Executive Centre.

In advance of the Fitwel Certification process, the team implemented numerous initiatives that included, but were not limited to, bountiful fruit and vegetable gardens, a well-attended walking club, and eye-catching posters that encourage physical activity. These initiatives supplemented the existing bicycle and carpool programs, electric vehicle parking stations, farmers markets, walking trails, and yoga sessions. There is no shortage of opportunities for building occupants to take a moment for a little fresh air and movement or quiet meditation.

Despite the achievement, the MEC team has only begun their quest for service excellence. The team is now exploring additional improvements to support their occupants’ journey to an improved state of health and wellness with an occupant-exclusive full-service fitness facility and a conference centre with flexible meeting space.

With this level of dedication and commitment, it’s only a matter of time before the remaining properties in the complex receive the same certification and the entire occupant community can take advantage of a robust suite of health and wellness offerings.
