Colliers Greater Toronto Corporate Responsibility

At Colliers, we truly care

We’re all about making our business more responsive and our people more active in the community. We're about offering an opportunity to learn and grow; all in a quest to achieve greater collective success for our city. This is why we continue to be a strong supporter and are actively involved with our local charitable partners throughout Toronto.

The Colliers Cares Program was established to guide our company’s efforts in making charitable contributions to the communities in which we do business. Every two years, Colliers Cares chooses new organizations to support and partner with.

Charities are chosen by a selection committee made up of Colliers employees representing various lines of business.

Employees are invited to nominate a charity they feel is worthy of Colliers’ support but it must meet specific criteria that address issues of destruction, disease, underprivileged families and youth, or investment in human potential.  Employees, with representatives from the charity, present to the selection committee who will choose 2-3 charities every year.

Colliers is proud to support three very worthy charities in 2015-2016.

Charitable Partners

Meagan's WalkThe mission of Meagan's Walk is to share the message of hope, to increase public awareness about brain tumours and the devastating effects they have on children and their families and to raise valuable financial resources for research into paediatric brain tumours. Funds from Meagan's Walk go to wonderful projects through b.r.a.i.n.child at the Hospital for Sick Children. Each year thousands of people walk 5KM from Ontario Place to Sick Kids Hospital to join hands in the world's largest hug. More than $2.7 million has been raised since 2002 and in 2014 Colliers raised $18,085 and in 2015 Colliers raised $22,725.

The 2015 Meagan's Walk took place on May 15th and Colliers is pleased to be a presenting sponsor for the next three years. Colliers employees and their families are encouraged to participate in the walk on Mother's Day Weekend.

Ronald McDonald LogoRonald McDonald House Toronto is more than just a home away from home. It’s a place for families to heal better together. It’s a place that provides a community of support and care to families while their seriously ill children come in search of life-saving treatment. Since 1981, Ronald McDonald House Toronto has opened its doors to such families.

Located at 240 McCaul Street, Toronto, the new 96-bedroom House features 66 family bedrooms and 15 two-bedroom family suites, providing a “home away from home” for 81 families each night. It offers a place for sleeping, schooling, working, cooking and playing. In addition there are three Family Rooms, within a hospital setting at The Hospital for Sick Children, Markham Stouffville Hospital and The Credit Valley Hospital. These Family Rooms offer a retreat for parents, while being steps away from where their sick child is being treated.

Colliers is proud to partner with Ronald McDonald House Toronto by sponsoring the “adopt-a- room program.”  This program allows families to stay and heal together, maintaining a sense of normalcy for the family, as their child receives the life-saving treatment they so desperately require. This sponsorship will help cover the costs associated with maintenance and operation of the room, such as linens and repairs, ensuring that is always available for families.  The Ronald McDonald House Toronto sponsorship offers a reprise from some of the financial and emotional burdens that these families would otherwise face without this charitable cause.

Colliers also supports the very popular “Home for Dinner Program.” The Home for Dinner program is a unique opportunity for individuals, groups or organizations to voluntarily prepare and serve meals to families who are staying at the Ronald McDonald House, using the House kitchen. This year, Colliers is hosting two dinners, one on August 13th and the other on October 22nd with the help of 15-18 employees who will volunteer to organize the dinner by shopping, cooking, serving and cleaning up for these themed dinner events.

Thanks to Colliers support of the Ronald McDonald House Toronto, we can help families feel at home.

Easter Seals Telethon Ontario LogoThe annual Easter Seals Telethon celebrates success stories, introduces new Provincial Easter Seals Ambassadors, showcases Easter Seals kids and their families, and recognizes those donors and sponsors who have helped us so much. The Telethon takes place in 6 communities throughout Ontario, including Toronto, Northern Ontario, Peterborough, Sault Ste. Marie, South Eastern Ontario and Windsor-Essex.

The Easter Seals Telethon also features various media, entertainment and sports celebrities who dedicate their time to help generate awareness for the needs of kids with physical disabilities, raise much needed funds, and say thanks to our generous sponsors.

Funds raised through the Easter Seals Telethon make a difference to over 20,000 children and youth with physical disabilities in Ontario. With your help, we can reach our annual fundraising goal and ensure that all Easter Seals kids receive the funding they need to achieve a greater level of independence and accomplishment all year round.

Colliers is a proud sponsor of the 2015-2016 Easter Seals telethon, which is broadcast live from CBC studios in Toronto. Colliers sponsored the “Corporate Hour” where our employees volunteered to answer the phones and take pledges. This year the telethon raised over $3million dollars to “help kids be kids”.

National Sponsorship

Colliers has had a long-standing partnership with Habitat for Humanity Greater Toronto Area and is again pleased to be a proud sponsor in 2015. Habitat for Humanity Toronto helps low-income families build and buy simple, decent quality affordable homes through a no-interest, no-profit mortgage with payments set at less than 30 percent of gross income. This solution not only helps to provide available housing for families in need, it enables low-income families to build assets, reduce their dependence on other forms of social assistance and break the cycle of poverty. Countless Colliers employees have participated in build days across the GTA to help build these homes!

This year Colliers will be sponsoring a home on the Habitat Runnymede site and we will be the corporate sponsor of their modern kitchen. Employees will once again be participating in a build day this Spring or Summer.
