With the recent expansion of the Millennium Line and the Evergreen Extension which opened December 2016, the neighbourhood has seen a surge in development and investment from prominent firms such as Bosa Properties, Marcon, Mosaic, Intracorp, Amacon and Concert Properties. With its prime location positioned at the top of the hill, Burquitlam station and vicinity is destined to become the new regional town centre for West Coquitlam.
On June 26th, 2017, the Burquitlam-Lougheed Neighbourhood Plan was approved by Coquitlam City Council. The new plan will guide growth in the neighbourhoods throughout the North and Clarke Road corridors and into the Lower Lougheed area over the next 20 to 25 years. The plan envisions walkable, complete and transit-oriented neighbourhoods that feature a mix of housing types and access to shopping, jobs and amenities. Up to 9,000 to 10,000 new homes are anticipated in the area and your property has been designated for potential redevelopment.
