Colliers Regina Rides for Heart & Stroke Foundation

Riding for a great cause

Colliers Regina braved the less than ideal weather on Thursday, June 22 and went on a fun, heart-pumping ride for a great cause. Twenty-eight riders from the Regina office took a heart-healthy break from their workday, hopped onto one of the Heart & Stroke Foundation’s Big Bikes and pedaled through Wascana Park in the wind and rain to help the Foundation raise funds for lifesaving research and support survivors of heart disease and stroke.

Each Colliers Regina Big Bike rider fundraised, with a collective goal of $4,000. Remarkably, the riders surpassed this goal by $1,262. Colliers Canada graciously matched a portion of the funds raised, making for a grand total of $7,372 donated to the Heart & Stoke Foundation.

“It was such a great time riding the Big Bike. It is a great way to develop camaraderie within the office while supporting a cause that will affect many of our lives. My mom had a stroke April 1, 2012. She never fully recovered all her cognitive skills and as a result  had to sell her home and move into a care home. It is my hope the funds raised will help the research team develop treatments to help stroke victims have a full recovery.”  Johanne Zolc – Big Bike Rider

Heart & Stroke Foundation

It is estimated that 1.6 million Canadians are living with heart disease and stroke. For 60 years Heart & Stroke has been dedicated to fighting these illnesses through research, prevention and support. Last year more than 70,000 riders in over 200 communities across Canada raised over $8 million for research through Big Bike events.
