When Colliers International’s Vancouver brokerage division celebrated the success of its employees at its annual Awards Night, winning truly had a different meaning.
Colliers sales professionals were recognized as top performers in a variety of categories including Industrial, Investment, Office, Retail and Land. There were also awards for Rookie of the Year, Most Transactions, Cultural Ambassadors, Professional Integrity and a few others.
However, the biggest award and winner of the night were unbeknownst to anyone in the room. Colin Scarlett, Senior Vice President, jumped on stage wearing a cowboy hat, proceeded to grab a hold of the microphone and announced that he was hosting an auction right then and there with all proceeds going to Hastings Elementary in East Vancouver for the Adopt A School Program.
Through the night, Colliers employees decided there was a more deserving winner and opened up their cheque books in a big way. There was a variety of sought-after auction items, but the highlights were: a coffee date with billionaire investment guru and philanthropist Frank Giustra, lunch with Ryan Kesler from the Vancouver Canucks, lunch with real estate mogul and philanthropist Ryan Beedie of The Beedie Group, and a private dinner for eight prepared by master chef David Hawksworth.
At the end of the auction, when all was said and done, Colin Scarlett was able to help raise $23,500 for Hastings Elementary. This donation went straight to the hot breakfast program and will help feed the kids of Hastings for the next two years.
