Colliers International projects Team Canada to edge out the competition throughout the group stage of the 2014 Winter Olympics men’s hockey event. Canada will face off against Norway in Game 1, Austria in Game 2 and Finland in Game 3. Colliers is basing its prediction on 2010 Winter Olympics results for the same event, which indicate the contending country with the lowest Class A office rents in its largest city (by population) won all three qualifying games.
Below are the midyear 2013 Class A office rents from Colliers' Global Office Report for Toronto, Oslo, Vienna and Helsinki:
“Obviously, there is no direct correlation between the class A office rents of a country’s most populated city and said country’s success in men’s Olympic hockey,” chuckles Curtis Scott, Analyst at Colliers International in Canada. “We do find it to be an interesting coincidence that this particular variable points to the winner of Team Canada’s group stage, as we saw with Team USA in the 2010 Winter Olympics, and now anticipate for Team Canada in 2014. And we’ll stand by our projection, if it will help our boys take home another gold. Go, Canada, go!”
The men’s Olympic hockey event kicks off Thursday, February 13 at 9am PST.
