Global real estate firm Colliers International has teamed up with Chelsea Manhattan, one of South Africa’s leading independent property consultancy, to establish its business in the country.
Chelsea Manhattan has fully integrated into the organization and rebranded to Colliers International.
The new company employs 34 people, has offices in Johannesburg and Cape Town, and provides a full range of commercial property transactional services with particular expertise in advising blue-chip international companies. Mike Blair, former Chief Executive of Chelsea Manhattan, is now Chief Executive of Colliers International, South Africa.
Commenting on the new company, Chris McLernon, CEO, EMEA at Colliers International, said: “Chelsea Manhattan is the leading independent commercial property consultancy in South Africa and is a great fit with our global business. We share a similar business culture in that both companies are entrepreneurial, have a commitment to client service and understand the importance of local expertise coupled with an international outlook.”
“As a vital gateway to the continent, South Africa is a key market for Colliers International. It is an emerging market in terms of commercial real estate, and presents enormous opportunities for us and our clients. This is part of our plan to grow our EMEA business, both organically through more than 100 offices, and through mergers and acquisitions.”
Mike Blair, CEO of the new Colliers International in South Africa, added: “We are South Africa’s leading property consultancy and have always had international capabilities. However, Colliers International gives us a global platform that will benefit both employees and clients. Our personalised approach will not change, but now, we have access to unparalleled expertise across all real estate sectors via Colliers’ network of professionals in 62 countries.”
Colliers International’s move into South Africa follows its recent opening in Tel Aviv, Israel, announced in December 2012.
